Gilda Gumbs Samuel is a quintessential strong Caribbean woman, whose rich multi-cultural background, with roots from St. Lucia, Anguilla, Barbados and Trinidad, mirrors the diversity of her many skillsets, talents and passions.
This CEO of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, is nothing short of extraordinary. Born in St. Lucia, she moved to Anguilla as a young girl and then in her teen years she relocated to the United States of America. She is happily married to Thomas Samuel for 32 years.
Her impact always makes its presence felt whether she is wearing her hat of President of the CSHAE (2014-16), Resident Manager of Rendezvous Hotel (1995 – 99) or the Designer/Creator of cultural carnival costumes for Klassique Ole Timers Troupe in Anguilla (ongoing).
Gilda is uniquely experienced in her 35 stellar years working in hospitality operations in Georgia, USA, St. Lucia and Anguilla, which is complemented by her private sector work in the Education and Communications industries in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Gumbs Samuel, a CTO Hospitality Assured Certified professional, has been active on various boards and committees including the CHTA Educational Foundation, the CHTA Advocacy and Membership Committee, The Fundraising Committee for the American Cancer Society and she is currently the active “mother” of The Anguilla National Culinary Team.
This hospitality professional attracted many awards and accolades over the years in the areas of customer service and hospitality and she was named the CHTA Executive Director of the year in 2012.
Remarkably, Gilda Gumbs Samuel carves out the time to play as passionately as she works, as she explores her keen interests in floral design, fashion design, travelling, dancing, entertaining, baking, cooking, gardening and most recently face mask making through her own company Honey Butter and Cream.
